1 – Breathability
Breathability is the ability of the hiking boot fabric to evacuate the moisture and sweat to the outside. The hiking boots that do not perspire will cause your feet to remain wet from sweat or if some water has entered in the boots. This has dire consequences that can ruin your mountain getaway and it can even prevent you from continuing with it. The cooling, the rubs, fungi and blisters are some of the consequences you will have to face in case your hiking boots do not have good breathability.
2 – Impermeability
It is also one of the key aspects in any hiking boots. You always keep this fact in your mind that the climate of the mountains can change all of a sudden, so it is a key quality to prevent water from entering your footwear and you can keep your feet dry at all times. In case you opt for waterproof hiking boots, you must make sure that they are also breathable.
If you plan to walk on the mountain during the summer time with stable and sunny weather, and you will not cross any river or stream that involves wetting your hiking boots, you can choose the boots that are not waterproof.
But our recommendation is that you always choose waterproof boots for hiking in the mountains for the reason that it is very annoying that the feet finish completely wet, and remember that the best hiking boots are the ones that are waterproof as well as breathable.
3 – Sole
It is vital that, whatever the terrain you are going to walk on, the sole will give you an optimal grip besides being non-slip. Nowadays, it is possible to say that the technology of Vibram and Contagrip in footwear are the most advisable in the market, since they allow a great grip in all types of surfaces and they are very resistant to abrasion.
Each sole is characterized by having a finished drawing or engraving. This has been designed mainly, so that, during the falls, the heel adheres to the ground and does not skid and it is the tip that enjoys a greater adhesion.
